Effects / Plugins / Simple / Quick Tile

03) File / New / 1280 x 400 px / transparent

flood fill with your pattern:

close pattern again; we don't need it anymore
back to your background

Layers / New Raster Layer

flood fill with: white

set opacity of this layer to: 65 - 80

Layers / Merge / Merge Visible

04) activate your minimised picture JPEG again

Layers / Load/Save Mask / Load Mask from disk:

Layers / Merge / Merge Group

Image / Resize: hight: 420 px

Edit / Copy
close it again; we don't need it anymore
back to your background

Edit / Paste / Paste as new layer

position to left side
